Like so many Queenstown locals, Frederique Gulcher-Ingram isn’t local. Born in South Africa to Dutch parents, she has always been a Dutch person, not from the Netherlands, a proud transnational first living in SA, then the UK, Auckland and now Queenstown.
After returning to study and receiving the 2012 Massey Scholarship for academic excellence in anthropology she has taken her amateur ethnographic fieldwork to new heights, digging even deeper into how people make and share their sense of the world. Other hobbies include walking, cycling, being a mother and film-making. To pay the rent, however, she is a communications advisor and freelance journalist.
